Herbal Remedy Product Line Expands To Include Sedorum

Antimicrobial HERBAL Product claims have become very hot topics of late, as the threat of antibiotic resistant superbugs becomes all the more real and the pharmaceutical companies look for new ways to fight them. Recently a study by a team of scientists in New Zealand revealed that chlorhexidine showed antibacterial activity against several different strains of the MRSA virus. This was an important finding because it meant that a logical first line of defense in the war on MRSA is now available. While all of these viruses and bacteria were found to be resistant to several common antibiotics such as penicillin, cephalexin, ciprofloxacin and vancomycin, it was found that chlorhexidine protected against all of them. It was found that even resistant strains of MRSA virus and Streptococcus pneumoniae showed an ability to respond to treatment with antifungal agents. This is not the first time that antifungal agents have been shown to help fight MRSA so medical researchers are optimistic that adding chlorhexidine to the treatment of those infections will have a positive effect on their survival and illness stopping times.

Two medicinal plants officinalis vulgaris and aromatica vulgaris are also included in the list of antimicrobial herbal products which have been shown to have a beneficial effect against MRSA. Both plants have antifungal and antibacterial properties and both have been used historically for their medicinal purposes. Some historical records suggest that these plants may have been used in Roman burial rites as well. Herbalists believe that the ingredients in these two medicinal plants work together to fight invading microorganisms which can cause serious health problems such as colds, fever, urinary tract infection, meningitis, respiratory tract infection, pneumonia and even deadly pathogens like MRSA.

Two other commonly used medicinal plants in antimicrobial herbal products are cyperus rotundus and staphisagria. Both of these plants contain compounds that are believed to inhibit the replication of a key protein involved in the production of tooth decay. They have also been found to reduce symptoms of bacterial infections and relieve irritation caused by dry mouth.

Many people are familiar with the fact that toothpastes containing the antiseptic chlorhexidine and other strong germicidal substances have been used for years to help prevent cavities and other dental caries risks.
